Dustin & Mary had the most magical day at The Outpost Center, and I was lucky enough to capture it all! Kind of a crazy story of how I met this couple. My family is from Mankato, and about 7 years ago, my family was at Christmas Eve service at church, and my dad spotted this young man sitting by himself. This young mans name is Dustin. My dad thought it was kind of weird for a Christmas Eve night. My dad approached him after service and found out that the snow storm had caused Dustin to not make it home for Christmas, and that he had plans to just sit in his apartment and watch movies all night/weekend. My dad wasn’t having it, so he ended up inviting him to our family Christmas! I come from a family of 4 girls, and 2 of them were married at the time, so it’s not a small family by all means. Dustin was hesitant at first, but ended up coming over after church. He ended up coming over days and days in a row, and really became a part of the family! I am quite a bit younger than Dustin, so he seemed like an older brother to me. We’ve all kept in contact over the years, and so when Dustin & Mary reached out to me about photographing their wedding day, I couldn’t have been more excited! To be a part of someones wedding day that you personally know, its a game changer! I felt so honored to be the one documenting their love story.
Dustin & Mary are so kind and so welcoming. They got married on a sunny September day. Their day was full of joy, love, friendships and Jesus. When we had met prior to their wedding day, I asked them what they were most looking forward to on their wedding day. Both of them said their ceremony. (which is super rare to hear!) It was one of the most memorable wedding ceremonies I’ve ever seen. The pastor was so intentional with his words, the worship song created a beautiful atmosphere, and the actions that Dustin & Mary took were so impactful. They washed each others feet as an act of serving one another, and took communion together for the first time as husband and wife. It was one of those weddings that you could just feel the love and support from everyone there. I may or may not have been hiding behind my camera while wiping tears away! Mary & Dustin have truly started their marriage off on a wonderful foot, with Jesus at the center of it all.
The day was full of beautiful people, decor and flowers, and full of love and laughter. Their bridal party was one of a kind! The entire day was incredible celebrating the two of them, but most importantly, glorifying God in it all.
Check out the story of their day!
